This year my daughter entered the world of wisdom teeth extractions. I have to say that I knew this was coming when she was 16 years old and they started breaking through her gums. Visiting the dentist and going to the consultation was a daunting experience, as my daughter is blind and it was a nervous situation. He went over all the X-rays and pointed out where my daughter's problem areas were while labeling one as "severely impacted". Luckily, United Dental came to rescue. When I called United to inquire what their coverage would be, the customer service department was so reassuring, I felt that one of my burdens had been lifted, and I could focus on taking care of daughter's fear of the procedure.

A few years ago, I was also faced with some significant dental work. After the work was complete, my dentist suggested more frequent cleaning as a follow up. I was worried that my dental insurance would balk at the idea and refuse payment. Each time I went back to the dentist, I was surprised to learn that for the most part the extra cleaning were covered. It feels good to know that my dental insurance is not only interested in doing the bare minimum required but is also supportive of the preventative recommendations by your dentist.

Whether it be the dentist I visit around the corner from my office, or the specialized pediatric dentist my kids see, I can always find a dentist that is covered by my dental plan. They even have a service on their website to search for a dentist in your area. Their interactive website is a great feature for busy Moms like me who don't have time to call during normal customer service hours.

Each time I have a special procedure done, I have received an estimate from my dentist's billing department. They give me the cost of the procedure minus the estimated amount the insurance will pay. In most cases, the bill was reduced when it was finalized since the insurance had paid more than expected. This has occasionally left me with a credit since I had already paid the estimated amount. I would wholeheartedly recommend United Dental to my family and friends.
